Barcelona-based Darkways make no secret of where their heart lies. On their debut album Resonance, released on June 20, 2024, the band dives deep into darkwave, coldwave, post-punk, goth and new wave, combining vintage electronic atmospheres with a distinctly modern production. From the opening seconds of "Shadowdancer", Resonance establishes its nocturnal character. Deep vocals, driving bass lines, icy synths and atmospheric guitars create a sound that immediately evokes the darker side of the 1980s. Yet Darkways never sound like a simple retro act. The production is powerful and clean enough to give these familiar ingredients a contemporary edge.
