DESCRIPTION Alpha Beta Gamma Delta, self-released by the band in September 2022, was the first new material released by the legendary British rock'n'roll group The Godfathers in five years. Recorded during the obligatory Pandemic hiatus, the album was widely praised by fans and received some of the best reviews of the band's entire career. Peter Coyne, lead singer and frontman of the Godfathers, called it "a sonic tour de force". In 2023 the extended version of the album was released as Alpha Beta Gamma Delta PLUS. The double CD, also self-released, included the original studio album alongside alternate acoustic versions of key tracks and live recordings from the celebrated Rockpalast German TV show. Now, just one year after the compact disc release, the double LP Alpha Beta Gamma Delta PLUS is finally released on glorious vinyl. At last, the 13 tracks of 'Alpha Beta Gamma Delta' on vinyl, plus 9 additional tracks: three previously released on single and EP and six alternative acoustic renditions of tracks from the album. Alpha Beta Gamma Delta is a brilliant, fresh collection of rock 'n' roll songs that competes perfectly with what The Godfathers have done in the past and brings excitement to a world that is no longer the world of their beginnings. They retain their identity, but the overall sound is slightly different. To the anger of the past, they add vocal harmonies ('Bring on the Sunshine'), guitar solos, melancholy and a new set of references that are also their own. 'Dead in Los Angeles', a song about a walk under the moonlight, could be compared to The Doors by some, and 'Tonight' is very Iggy Pop. The Godfathers also do softer numbers when they need to, so Peter Coyne's baritone voice is at home on the sensitive honeyed, 'There Is No Time'. ou Gotta Wait' is an instant melodic punk rock classic that unpacks that Monday feeling where the weekend seems a million miles away... Also included are six acoustic re-interpretations of the tracks, recorded in the studio during the album's recording sessions, which requested for this unplugged interpretation.
