Justin Collins has long been entrenched in the Nashville underground; and by a long time I mean either literally, or perhaps in another life just as well. "Cool Dead" may only be his 4th LP with the Cosmics up until this point, but what they might lack in output is well made up for in something that only comes with a heart, mind, and soul that's been to the edge and back -- wisdom or pure-oddity some may call it. Earnest as the underground could ever conjure and with something you can't quite find elsewhere, this LP is surely his best yet. With production credits from the likes of Deer Tick and Middle Brother, Justin Collins is dare I say, something whole-heartedly worth keepin' your eyes and ears on. For fans of mid to later era Replacements or those who wish Bruce Springsteen fell off the wagon maybe once or twice and fronted a rock band with more teeth than good sense.
