The Maureens debuted in 2013 with a self-titled album that contained a distinct mixture of sixties nostalgia and nineties era indiepop. Sounds from The Beach Boys, The Posies and Big Star were fused together in catchy, energetic and uplifting pop songs. In the spring of 2015 the Maureens recorded their second album called 'Bang the Drum' and released it in September of the same year. The songs on this album proved to be more personal, powerful and upfront, with the spirit of bands like Johan, Teenage Fanclub and Jayhawks added to the already rich mixture that defines The Maureens. Again this album was received well, with many great reviews and some high rankings on 'Favourite album for 2015' lists. Currently operating as a four-piece band, The Maureens are busy as always, writing and performing their exciting and melodic alternative pop songs and their third album 'Something in the Air' released by Meritorio Records.
