The band Murder By Death were approached by science fiction/fantasy writer Jeff Vandermeer to write an instrumental soundtrack to his new book "Finch", and they accepted! Each song attempts to recreate a scene or mood from the book, and the CD release shows the page numbers of the book that correspond to each track of the CD. To quote the band "We locked ourselves up in our friend's Farm Fresh Studio in Bloomington, IN for 5 days and wrote and recorded... we have used a lot of crazy techniques that we have never tried before.. Our old pianist Vincent Edwards lent his hand(s) at the piano, organs and Rhodes."
