Nine Inch Nail's second EP of the year is an intense, experimental collection of tracks that will leave listeners aching for more. Add Violence is a captivating, eclectic experience and once cinematic, strange closing track "The Background World" breathes its last, it's hard to reconcile the fact that the EP is done already. Each track seems to belong to its own sonic universe - with, of course, that unifying Reznor touch - starting with moody synthwave-style opener "Less Than" and continuing on with electronic-influenced "The Lovers" and dark and dreamy "This Isn't the Place." NIN's disdain for authority and pervasive sense of despair have never sounded more timely - and more necessary.
