Pieces Of Eight

Nine Ton Penaut Smugglers

Pieces Of Eight
The Nine Ton Peanuts play a mix of old school Ska, Jamaican Boogie, Rhythm'n'Blues, Soul, Rocksteady and Reggae. Their set is almost entirely original compositions by band leader Sir Bald Diddley, whose music has also recently featured in 'Stranger Things' on TV! Over nearly 20 years they have performed across the UK (100 Club, Jazz Cafe) and Europe, including Freedom Sounds Festival (Germany) and Dance Ska La (France). They have supported The Skatalites and Toots And The Maytals, no less. The Peanuts feature a four horn attack who have backed Alton Ellis, Derrick Morgan, Laurel Aitken, Dave Barker, Dawn Penn, Lee Thompson & Dangermen (Madness) Horace Panter & Linval Golding (The Specials). As stated in the album liner notes: The technical involvement inherent in the composition of the bountiful treasures in this offering does not in any way detract from the revelation it imparts. This message will reveal itself to you after playing this unusual album a few times. You will learn this is all about a new sound, pure, simple, golden, and musically delightful. Although two-dimensional in depth, the blending of popular sounds from across the seven seas has resulted in the fine work of musical alchemy. Indeed this rare recording is proclaiming the advent of `Rhythm `n' Ska'! And what a cavalcade of musical swag, swagger, precious jewels and bootiful bounty you will find on this gem of a release. The achievement of this sound by this pioneering musical group `The Nine Ton Peanut Smugglers' has been the result of years of experimentation, fortified by the finest overproof rum and that infallible teaching experience, having almost completed the full circuit of the island's plushest hotels and finest venues, not always by invitation..."
