Roaring 420s, The
Obviously, The Roaring 420s have been nurtured by an overdose of various 60s and early 70s artists, otherwise it's hard to explain why this Dresden-based group sounds rather like an obscure gem from the vinyl bin at a roadside sale in Southern California. Having been founded in 2010, they soon transcended their sound from anti-folk to garage rock'n'roll, psych pop and Indian exotica, especially via the use of an electric sitar. They have played shows with the likes of The Strange Boys, Vibravoid and Fuzztones' Lana Loveland. Their take on Serge Gainsbourg's "Laisse Tomber Les Filles" has been aired in France and will be part of a tribute compilation scheduled for 2014. Their debut LP will be released June 10 on Stoned Karma Records and a split single with Copenhagen-based group The Mind Flowers is to come out on Levitation Records in February.
