Friends since elementary school, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel of Kew Gardens Hills, Queens, New York formed the group
Tom & Jerry their junior year of high school and first recorded in the late '50s, some 8 years before hitting it big as
Simon & Garfunkel. The track "Hey Schoolgirl" was a minor hit, selling 100,000 copies and reaching #49 on the Billboard
charts. Early on the duo was heavily influenced by the Everly Brothers and that influence is definitely seen here on
these 20 tracks, recorded between 1958 and 1962. Not just the roots of a legendary duo, these tracks stand alone as
quality early folk-rock!
