South Central Cartel
One of the West Coast's original gangsta rap groups, along with NWA and Comptons Most Wanted, L.A.'s South Central Cartel rose to prominence in 1991 with the independent South Central Madness. Following the success of their debut release, SCC caught the ear of Def Jam's Russell Simmons. 1993 saw the first Def Jam release, In Gatz We Trust, which eventually sold in excess of one million units. The follow up releases Murder Squad Nation (1995) and All Day Every Day (1997) garnered similar success and SCC were on the verge of superstardom. An unfortunate mix of music industry politics and internal group issues led to the early demise of Southern Cali's finest. Two independent releases of unreleased material in the ensuing years kept SCC in the game until the release of this long awaited GREATEST HITZ album. C.O.D. collects 18 of SCC's most gangsta and commercially successful songs on one CD and features the incredible "17 Switches", "Gang Stories", "Tha Bomb" and "All Day Everyday". Rappers Big Prodeje, Havoc and Young Prodeje rap real tunes that reflect the true life of a gangsta in South Central Los Angeles and Big Prodeje produces the awesome backbone of hardcore and G-funk style beats. C.O.D. clearly shows why the SCC has secured its place in history as one of the originators and most successful groups of West Coast Rap.
