Stress

Conspiracy Theory
Stress is the duo of Alan Rider (Adventures in Reality fanzine editor) and Phil Clarke from West Midlands, England formed in 1981. Stress combined electronic rhythms and keyboards with bass guitar, vocals, percussion, and cut-up samples. They created catchy electronic pop songs that fused accessible & experimental elements with a pointed lyrical edge in the vein of Cabaret Voltaire, Depeche Mode and Joy Division. Their first two releases (Help Comes too Late 1982, Restraint in 1984) were cassettes on Alan's own indie "Adventures in Reality" label. In 1985, they released "The Big Wheel" album and took the number #1 electronic spot in the NME chart. Soon after the band split up in late 1985. This lp is an 11-song best of compilation featuring tracks from the first two cassette albums plus songs that appeared on compilations. Remastered at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley by George Horn. Contains a 16-page booklet, of "Adventures in Reality" fanzine with photos, equipment list, press cuttings, & lyrics.
