1988-92 was a time of two primary radical shifts in Swans general music approach learning new ways to work and ignoring the preconceptions dogging them as as result of their early extremism. The music on Various Fallures ranges from delicate, acoustic ballads with strings (that have a sort of Phil Spector-ish thing about it) to cinematic sound collages with found vocal narrations. This double CD collects the best of the material from their most popular ever, most of which have been long unavailable. A must have for fans.
