Tracey Thorn is an English singer & songwriter known largely as one half in the duo Everything But the Girl. She was also a member of Marine Girls, reintroduced to a new generation in 2002 via Kurt Cobain's post-mortem published diary, which named their album in Nirvana's Top 50 Albums. "Record" is Tracey Thorn's first standard full length since 2010's Love And Its Opposite; the seasonal Tinsel & Lights arrived in 2012. On Record, the synth-driven tracks arrive and leave with a punchy sub-three minute directness. "I wanted it to be a record you'd listen to in the daytime," Tracey says. "On your headphones or on the move. Not necessarily in the evening, or in your bedroom."
