Triffids, The
Born Sandy Devotional
In September of 1984 The Triffids traveled from their native Australia to London with a small amount of cash they'd
saved up and 5 return plane tickets scheduled to expire in 3 months. They gave themselves ninety days to make inroads in
the UK as a band, or have fun trying, and they absolutely succeeded. Barely 3 months after their 1984 arrival they
graced the first NME cover of 1985. The headline predicted The Year Of the Triffids. Born Sandy Devotional was recorded
in London in August of that year. The bands sound was informed by a vast wealth of influences and a deep musical
knowledge: from UK punk to Topanga Canyon rock, Dylan, Van Morrison, classic soul and country music. Born Sandy
Devotional is the perfect distillation of the bands influences into their own absolute sound. For this very special 180
gram vinyl reissue the 2006 digitally re-mastered tracks were transferred back to tape to enable the creation of new
production masters through a fully analog signal chain. The tracks were then meticulously re-mastered following David
McCombs' original production notes. This is a true audiophile release of one of the most influential Australian bands
ever.
