Dark Entries drags another gem out into the light. This 16 track compilation of UK DIY/Synth/New Wave/Post Punk songs was originally released in 1981. The compilation showcased the UK town of Watford, England (20 minutes north of London). This comp features 2 tracks from 8 bands. Mex were the solo project of Paul Mex who went on to produce songs for WHAM and George Michael. Soft Drinks were a short-lived synth-punk trip who featured Jon Greville from Rudimentary Peni. Flying Beechcraft serve up a slice of wistful Flying Nun indie pop. Post punk Sad Lovers and Giants were a 5-piece band in this early incarnation. All songs were transferred from the master tapes by Paul Mex (MEX) and remastered for vinyl by George Hprn at Fantasy Studios in Berkely. The vinyl comes housed in a full color printed jacket using the original silk-screened artwork with 12 page booklet that is lovingly reproduced as it was in the original pressing. "The Thing From The Crypt" is more than a local compilation, it's the stuff John Peel shows were made of.
