The Pearl Eater is both elegy and offering, centering the artist's own death mask-her face as it existed moments before facial feminization surgery. Strung with 28 baroque pearls, the sculpture stands at an imposing 9 feet, towering yet intimate, like a monument to transformation. Porcelain, horsehair, wood, and glass come together in a fragile alchemy, holding the weight of what was and what must be let go. This is a ritual, a sending-off: the artist's former self placed into an astral space, a liminal rest. The shimmering pearls act as votives, honoring the tension between grief and joy, destruction and creation.
