Efraín Vásquez is a Puerto Rican singer, known to Puerto Ricans, who in the field of the Maximum Expression of the Latin Quarter is more easily recognized as Frankie Vázquez, the "Sonero del Barrio". He was born into a humble family in the town of Salinas on January 6, 1958. Since he was a child he received the musical influence of his closest relatives, as they were linked to music: one uncle was a singer, another saxophonist, one more composer and another even master of ceremonies. The stimulus was opportune for Frankie to be captivated by the music, although he showed at first his interest and love for salsa by playing the congas, the timbales and the bongo. Efraín Vásquez cantante boricua, gentilicio de los puertorriqueños, al que en el ámbito de la Máxima Expresión del Barrio Latino reconocemos con mayor facilidad como Frankie Vázquez, el "Sonero del Barrio". Nació en el seno de una humilde familia del pueblo de Salinas el 6 de enero de 1958. Desde niño recibió la influencia musical de sus parientes más cercanos, pues estaban vinculados con la música: un tío fue cantante, otro saxofonista, uno más compositor y otro hasta maestro de ceremonias. El estímulo fue oportuno para que Frankie quedara cautivado por la música, aunque mostrara al comienzo su interés y amor por la salsa tocando las congas, los timbales y el bongó.
