Mexican Pain Pill

Velour Afternoon

Mexican Pain Pill
Limited edition of 100, the 4th release from Mutation Records. Marks the end of an era as it coincides with the untimely forced closure of Non Plus Ultra. Recorded equally on both coasts in numerous basements and bedrooms, Velour Afternoons first LP "Mexican Pain Pill" takes inspiration from oddly pleasant late night experiences in numerous southwestern deserts including Marfa, TX, Joshua Tree, CA, and Norte Sur, Baja Mexico. The group equally took inspiration from lethargic and dazed urban afternoons in Los Angeles, Ca. Mixing the musical Influences of Syd Barrett and Ray Davies as well as the experimentation of Velvet Underground and early Pink Floyd the band's sound started to finally take form. After several months of recording and re-recording the band finally settled on the album they initially made and went forth with releasing the album with Mutation Records in March of 2017.
