Clash, The
Capitol Radio Shakedown
Released in December '79, London Calling hit number 9 on the British chart; in the United States, where it was issued in
January 1980, it reached number 27. In early March 1980, the Clash took their London Calling tour to the US, and on 6th
March they performed at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey - an infamous music venue that had originally opened
in 1921 and which, during the 1970s and 1980s, had become a regular stop on many rock bands tours.
The show played there by the Clash in March 1980, came to be considered the finest gig the band performed while on their
short American tour at this juncture, which ended on 10th March in Detroit.
Released here on vinyl for the first time, this extraordinary set, recorded as it was for live FM Broadcast, is now
available for all fans to hear and cherish.
