Tv Cult
Two years ago, TV CULT impressively demonstrated what post-punk can be today if you are brave enough to explore its boundaries and then respectfully tear them down. Now the four Cologne natives are back with I N D U S T R Y, the powerful counterpart to "C O L O N Y." A colossal second album that takes the virtues of the debut and takes them a few steps further toward the abyss. What remains is the powerful embrace of singer Marcos, who once again manages to let TV CULTs distinctive meltdown of crooning factory speech and brutal DC hardcore shouts shine. However, I N D U S T R Ys razor-sharp songwriting, its perfectly staged details, and the great production (mixing by Misha Hering / mastering by Brad Boatright) catapult TV CULT and their ten new songs into entirely new spheres. The new synth is not an accessory, but part of the concept, sometimes subtle and emotional ("Surrender"), sometimes driving ("Crack The Whip"). The foundation thrives on the booming basslines and powerful drums, reminiscent of early Killing Joke in "Whirlwind." Guitarist Martin presents his instrument in a more diverse and mature way, without losing his flair for minimalist yet effective riffing. All this makes I N D U S T R Y not only one of the best albums of 2025, but also puts TV CULT on a par with their friends from DITZ, IDLES, and HIGH VIS. INDUSTRY is a bleak and beautiful record. Marcos aggressive vocals cut straight through the haunting guitars." * Graham Sayle (High Vis)
