Here we have a compilation of indigenous music emanating from Africa and culminating with Grammy award winning Tito Puente's salsa pure 26 piece orchestra in New York. The roots of most modern music started in Africa, the Ivory Coast and Nigeria, travelled on to Cuba and Mexico and ended up in New York in the 20s 30s and 40s. 2000 year old chants from Africa to the most waspish penthouses of Manhattan. This is the journey of music from Africa to the modern day. The Benues with their 2000 year old chants to the Ivories a caste of musicians whose music archived their peoples history in their songs. These rhythms travelled to Cuba and the Americas where the hybrid of Central American music was kept alive with African music in the Son Jarocha and Bata of Mexico and Cuba. Transformed with new instruments and rhythms and onto Puerto Rico and New York, through migration into the most hostile canyons of the industrial western metropolis. Recorded in Soundfield Ambisonic surround sound with the first available digital equipment. Samples galore for the young music makers in their bedrooms, slam this on your 5.1 surround sound system and these bands perform in your living room.
