Cowboys De La A3

Arde Bogota

Cowboys De La A3
After "La Noche" (Sony, 21), Arde Bogotá has become one of the biggest Spanish national bands, one of those that occupy the front lines at festivals. But all that rock revolution that the Murcians have been promoting since their beginnings was subject to their next move, and today, finally, it has arrived. "Cowboys de la A3" (Sony, 23) is the title of their second album, in which they take us into their van for a 12-stop journey, each transformed into a song. An album centered around love, but in which animals play a major role (see "Los perros"), which also features the concerns of the younger generations, "Todos mis amigos estás tristes," and which is full of the references they love so much, from football of yesteryear, to a hotel in La Mancha, and even the famous horoscopes, or, of course, cars. The album's sound is uncompromisingly classic rock, but a bit sharper than their previous release. It's clear they've gained experience over these two years of touring and are also taking advantage of one of the most iconic genres. We find the songs we might most associate with Cartagena in the first five tracks, which include the album's three brilliant debut singles and sing-along songs like "Nuestros pecados" and "Clávame tus palabras." But the tracks with the highest BPM are found in the second half of the album, just after "Copilotos," their most emotional ballad. Only then can we understand the brilliant ending of "Veneno," which reminds us of bands who played with more Latin rhythms in the past, or the interlude that completely changes the flow of "Besos y animales" to turn it into a true sonic blast. An album finale that will keep you jumping and nodding your head. Although if we had to define the album in a single feeling, it would be emotion, and if we were to summarize it in a single piece, it would be "Salvation." Those lyrics about the importance of returning home, that rhythm that grows epic as the track progresses, and the feeling of having reached the end of the journey are what makes this piece so distinctive, making it an instant classic of Spanish rock. In short, if with their debut I thought they were teaching us how to make edgy rock in 2021, in the style of Arctic Monkeys, Foals, or Spanish Kaiser Chiefs, with this one I have no doubt that they have become true masters of the genre. Long live these cowboys of the road, may they never abandon it.
